Can’t find what you need? – We’re happy to help!

How much do solar panels cost?

Costs depend on your roof size, energy usage, and system design. At SA Energy, residential systems typically start from around £5,000–£8,000, with battery storage available from £4,000 upwards.

 How do solar panels work?

Solar panels convert daylight into electricity – even when it’s cloudy. That electricity powers your home, reducing your need to buy from the grid. Add a battery, and you can store excess energy for use at night.

Do solar panels work in the UK winter?

Yes! Even in cloudy British weather, solar panels generate energy. While output is lower in winter, a well-designed system still contributes significantly to your yearly savings.

Can solar panels power my whole home?

In many cases, yes. A right-sized solar and battery system can cover 80–100% of your energy needs, depending on your usage habits. We’ll design your system based on your actual consumption.

Will it lower my energy bills?

Absolutely. Most of our customers see 40–70% reductions in their electricity bills, with greater savings when battery storage is added.

How long does installation take?

Most domestic systems take 1–2 days to install. We pride ourselves on clean, tidy, professional installations, with minimal disruption to your home or business.

Do I need planning permission?

In most cases, no planning permission is required for standard rooftop systems on houses. If you’re in a listed building or conservation area, we’ll guide you through any necessary steps.

Should I get battery storage too?

Battery storage lets you use your solar energy when the sun’s not shining. It maximises self-consumption, boosts savings, and can provide backup during power cuts. We’ll show you what works best for your budget and usage.

Will this help reduce my carbon footprint?

Definitely. A typical solar installation in the UK offsets over 1 tonne of CO₂ every year—equivalent to planting 50 trees annually. It’s one of the simplest ways to reduce your environmental impact.

Can I sell my excess electricity?

Yes. You can export unused energy back to the grid under a Smart Export Guarantee (SEG) tariff and get paid for it. We’ll help you register and choose the best supplier.

Eligibility: You will need Solar PV and a smart meter that can provide half-hourly export readings.
